Frichette Winery: A Blend of Soul and Wine

Frichette Winery, located in Benton City, in the heart of Washington's Red Mountain wine-growing region, is more than just a vineyard; it's a place known for its welcoming atmosphere and exceptional wines, recently hosted its annual soul food dinner. Owners Shae Frichette and her husband Greg envisioned a legacy, “when Greg and I started Frichette, we wanted to create what we thought would be a really cool legacy. We wanted to create something that, if we started a family, they get to work in,” Said Shae.

Shae's passion for hospitality shines through in every aspect of Frichette. "We meet you where you are," she says, welcoming both seasoned wine enthusiasts and those new to the world of wine. This approach, along with Shae's Southern roots, led to the creation of an annual soul food dinner, “I'm from the south, so it's no surprise that I would be hosting a soul food dinner here at Frechette,” said Shae.

This year, Frichette partnered with Chef Trey Lamont, owner of Seattle's Jerk Shack Kitchen, to create a menu that complements their wines. Chef Lamont, who grew up in Seattle and overcame numerous challenges to achieve his culinary dreams, believes in the power of food to bring people together. "Food always is a liaison to bring all sides together," he says. His Caribbean-inspired dishes, paired with Frichette's wines, created an unforgettable dining experience.

This year’s dinner included seafood gumbo with crab, prawns, and chicken sausage served with rice and garlic butter, as well as French bread. Jamaican curry fried chicken, grilled kale salad with grilled onion vinaigrette, and smoked salmon belly. Spicy Collard greens served with sweet potato cornbread with honey, lime, jalapeño, ginger butter, and Lemon zest Fry bread with hibiscus glaze.

The soul food dinner is just one example of Frichette's commitment to community and creating a welcoming atmosphere. Whether you're a wine connoisseur or simply looking for a place to relax and enjoy good company, Frichette Winery offers an experience that will leave you feeling like family. As Chef Lamont puts it, "Hopefully, you change your mindset." At Frichette, you just might.
