Portland's SEI hosts the Prairie View A&M Marching Storm Band at Junction Ave.

Besa Gordon hopped on the Amtrak Train and headed back to Portland, Oregon, after learning about the 5th annual Junction Ave, a Black History Month Event that brings black businesses and services together put on by Self Enhancement Inc, also known SEI -- and believe it or not, over the years, it has become the biggest annual event of its kind in the Portland area. -- What's great about SEI is that since 1981, they've been committed to helping youth and families realize their full potential. They believe that every child has a gift and that it is our shared responsibility to help every child find that gift. By expanding learning opportunities and teaching every child that "Life Has Options."

This year, SEI, teamed up with the Portland Trailblazers and Alaska Airlines, who made it possible for the Prairie View Marching Storm band to fly to the Rose City all the way from Houston, Texas, to give the youth a taste of those classic HBCU vibes, with a performance I'm sure they will never forget.

And, when it comes to the Storm marching band, their time in Portland didn't end there, they also performed during half-time at the Trailblazer's game the next day for HBCU To The Pros. Let's take a moment to see what went down in Portland last weekend.
