Wa Na Wari's "Forced Perspective" Exhibit at the Paramount: A Celebration of Black Art and Community
The Wa Na Wari Gallery and Seattle Theatre Group (STG) have partnered to present "Forced Perspective: Black Photography at the Paramount Theater." This powerful exhibit showcases Black artistry and the importance of community and cultural preservation through stunning photographs capturing the essence of Black life and culture.
The opening night reception at the Paramount Theatre was a vibrant celebration of Black art and culture, featuring music, food, and a visual feast of photographs.
Yirim Yiddim Seck of Wa Na Wari spoke about the significance of the partnership with STG, highlighting the importance of investing in Black artists and showcasing their impact on the community. Sarah Strasbaugh of STG echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the importance of highlighting local artists.
Featured artist Kamari Bright shared her thoughts on the importance of creating art for the Black community, stating, "I want my work to speak to us."
The "Forced Perspective" exhibit will be on display at the Paramount Theatre until August 2025, offering visitors a unique opportunity to engage with and appreciate Black artistry.
