Game On: Press Play
Sound Generations presents our second annual Game On, a FREE, family-fun event to support the fight against senior hunger.
We can't wait to bring entertainment, giant lawn games, food trucks, cotton candy, and more to Jimi Hendrix Park and Northwest African American Museum. This year, we have two exciting additions to our mix: a virtual reality experience and our first-ever wine-tasting experience (for adults 21+).
All proceeds benefit our campaign to end senior summer hunger. When you buy a raffle ticket or upgrade your experience with a game pack, you support a company that holistically supports older adults through Meals on Wheels, community dining, and so much more.
Featured entertainers include Goody Bagg and more.
Bring yourself, your friends, your families, and your appetite for fun, food, and festivities!
Spirit Of the Heart: Cultivate Inner Fire for Collective Growth
Join us on August 4th in Seattle for a unique experiential workshop celebrating San Fu, an important seasonal transit in East Asian cultures. San Fu marks the hottest days of the year according to the lunar calendar, traditionally a time for community celebration and health-supporting rituals. San Fu refers to the three 10-day periods that are considered the hottest days of the year according to the lunar calendar. Traditionally, this is a time to celebrate with the community and loved ones through traditional rituals to support health and cultivate our Yang Qi to better support our immune systems through the cold seasons.
Event Highlights:
- Cultural Exploration: Discover the cultural and historical significance of San Fu
- Collaborative Art: Contribute to a community artist tapestry project using the process of cyanotype (which uses the light of the sun to create an image!)
- Somatic Practices: Engage in somatic practices including Qi Gong and created food-grade herbal tea blends
Event Goals:
- Share traditional East Asian culture through both didactic and hands-on experiences.
- Foster community healing through social art-making and storytelling.
- Create a nurturing space for intergenerational social activities.
This workshop is designed to engage the Seattle community in artistic and somatic practices that promote wellness and cultural wisdom. Don’t miss this opportunity to connect with others, explore new traditions, and celebrate the season in a meaningful way.
What You'll Take Home:
- Herbal Tea Blend: A seasonally appropriate blend created during the workshop to keep you cool, hydrated, and support your digestive system.
- Wellness Practices: Knowledge of health-promoting somatic and Qi Gong practices tailored for the season.
- Cultural Insights: An understanding of the cultural and historical significance of San Fu.
- Seasonal Guidebook: A 71-page guidebook with personal check-ins, food therapy tips, herbal tea recipes, hydrating juice ideas, and journal prompts for each of the four Fu periods in 2024.
- Cyanotype Print: Your own cyanotype print made during the workshop, plus the know-how to create more on your own.
- New Connections: The potential for new friends and a sense of community (we hope!)
