Emerging Voices: A Conversation with TraeAnna Holiday at Renton Ikea Performing Arts Center
Enjoy a captivating conversation with three emerging authors hosted by Emmy Award winning media professional, TraeAnna Holiday of Converge Media. An exciting evening exploring the work of three powerful literary voices that are all living in the Pacific Northwest. Kathya Alexander, Chardonnay Beaver and Luther Hughes are award winning authors and storytellers that write from their unique lived experiences. They have been captivating audiences through poetry, fiction and nonfiction storytelling and will share about their journeys in the literary world. Explore their latest projects and hear about how their work helps offer personal and cultural healing and gives rise to social transformation. Author panel with book signing to follow.

Join a discussion with Sabrina Strings, Ph.D., author of Fearing the Black Body: The Racial Origins of Fat Phobia (2019) and The End of Love: Racism, Sexism and the Death of Romance (2024).
Fearing the Black Body was named one of Essence Magazine’s "10 Books We're Dying To Toss Into Our Summer Totes." It also made “must read” lists in Ms. Magazine, Colorlines, and Bitchmedia and has been featured on NPR, KPFA, and WNYC.
