#Back2Besa - Communion Seattle’s Fish Fry Celebrates Community, Food

Our Besa Gordon tapped in at the world-famous Communion Seattle during their annual fish fry. She spoke with Chef Kristi Brown about what makes the event so special and you know she had to try some of the food.

“We’ve been doing the fish fry for over ten years. We started it because a lot of the That Brown Girl Cooks customers were like ‘we’re never able to get your food’,” Brown said.

The meal featured fish, crab, spaghetti, sides and more. Gordon also stopped back behind the scenes to talk with chef Lynn Lewis about the chicken dinner and crab boil which were also being served.

Lewis walked Besa through the ingredients, as well as describing the beauty of the crab boil.

“A crab boil is a communal thing between you and your family and your friends. You’re making a whole pot of love,” Lewis said.

Brown echoed that sentiment, saying that the entire day is about community and sharing the love.

“Really it’s about bringing people together. That’s really my thing and I love when people are able to come, sit down, and have a meal together,” Brown said.

You can check out the food in the video, and find out more about Communion on their page @communionseattle and visit them at their 24th and Union location.
