Besa Gordon Shares Update on “Support Black Business” Campaign During Good Day Seattle Appearance
By - Besa Gordon: So yesterday morning, I did my weekly appearance on Good Day Seattle to give an update on something that’s been super close to my heart, the Support Black Business campaign Converge Media launched back in January with Back2Besa. It’s wild to think about how many businesses’ stories we’ve been able to uplift in just a few months, so I couldn’t wait to share some of the progress we’ve made.
When we started this, it was really out of necessity. We saw so many Black-owned businesses that were closing or literally asking for help. So we decided to show up in the way we know best: through storytelling. Whether it’s on Back2Besa, in blogs, or out in the streets.
I also got to shout out a few of my favs: Lizzie Lous Too out in Fife (inside the Harley-Davidson dealership, y’all!), Intentions Juice and Smoothie Bar in South Tacoma, and The Trap Lab in Federal Way, which I still haven’t been to yet—but they’re out here mixing workouts with line dancing. And if you know me, you already know I live for a line dance moment. AND Summer’s coming... yes please!
Currently, the campaign is still rolling, and we’re going to keep it going as long as the community keeps supporting. We don’t want anyone to just get to the next month—we want these businesses to thrive so, if you or someone you know owns a Black business that could use some extra shine, you can still sign up at whereweconverge.com/supportblackbusiness.
This isn’t just a campaign—it’s a movement. And we’re just getting started.
