#BlackStarPower - Marc Handsome joined The Day With Trae

Recording artist Marc Handsome sat down with Trae Holiday on The Day With Trae this week to talk about his recent signing with Vamp Life records and his journey from corporate America to a music career.

“I initially was a person moving through corporate America with a different passion,” Handsome said. “My passion was for troubled youth, and I went and did the things I needed to do to be productive.”

After he realized the pay rate would never be enough in the corporate setting for the work he wanted to do, Handsome switched paths and began pursuing a career in music.

“The blessing of having Black entertainment is that Black entertainment will pay you for who you are,” Handsome said.

That decision paid off, as Handsome recently signed a new record deal. He also credited his mother with his work ethic and success.

“I came from a home with a mother who told me I could do anything,” Handsome said. “I really took that to heart and I feel like I can do anything I put my mind to.”

Being from South Central LA, Handsome said street violence impacted his youth and young adulthood heavily and that he wants to be there for his community and inspire others.

“I wanted to show the people in my environment that we could elevate out of that,” Handsome said. “Most of my projects, I made sure that I could show everybody that we could go where we want to go and elevate.”

He also shared the importance of staying true to yourself and staying grounded within the values that make you who you are.

“If you’re being who you are, you can do that the best,” Handsome said. “I can’t act like Tupac, but if I stay like Marc Handsome then I’m never going to lose that wave.”
