How Flora and Fauna Helped Besa Gordon Grow Her Green Thumb

By: Besa Gordon - Big Green Thumb Energy: Did y’all know there’s a Black-owned plant AND vinyl shop right in Pioneer Square? Yup, Flora and Fauna, which is also a Buy Black Card by Intentionalist location, is officially my new happy place for all things plants! Whether you’re a plant pro or just trying to keep one alive like me, Flora and Fauna has something for you, and if you need help, it’s owner Ashley Palmer got you covered.

Before I got the plant help I need, because I definitely needed it, I took some time to roam around the shop, and check out the vinyls, they had Kendrick Lamar, Lauryn Hill, Nirvana, Rihanna, Diana Ross, and more.

They also have a ton of eco-friendly products, candles, clothes, and plant books for the pros, and beginners like me.

After getting some much-needed advice from Ashley, I picked up a haworthia (those spots are giving personality), a peperomia caperata “Red Luna” (aka my lil pepperoni), some plant food, a candle that smells like a whole vibe, AND a book that might just save me from killing my plants that’s literally called “How to not kill your houseplant.”

Personally, I’ve always wanted to have a living plant wall, and although my gran gran taught me how to garden when I was younger, as a grown woman, I currently have no clue what I’m doing, but with Ashley’s help, and my new book (I’ll deff need more books LOL) I think I’m finally getting back on the right track.

So, if you’re in the area and you love plants, or if you’re a newbie like me trying to find your way, I have you say you’ll be in good hands if you pull up to Flora and Fauna.

Anywho friend, have you been to Flora and Fauna yet?
