#JayInTheCity - Jay Martin Jr. Takes In The Timeless Specatacle of the O’Jays

By Jay Martin Jr.

I recently had the incredible opportunity to witness a legendary performance by The O'Jays at the historic Paramount Theater in Seattle, and it was nothing short of an unforgettable experience. There's just something about authentic R&B music that transcends generations, and this night was a testament to that fact.

As I walked into the venue, I was greeted by a diverse crowd, spanning all age groups. It was heartwarming to see people from their 60s and 70s, who have been fans of The O'Jays for decades, still singing along with every lyric, hitting those high notes, and grooving to the rhythm. The atmosphere was electric, and it was evident that the love for this timeless music knows no age limits.

Of course, I was not going to miss this opportunity. I had my must-hear songs in mind, like "Money, Money, Money" and "Love Train," and I can confidently say that The O'Jays delivered in style. Their performance was a masterclass in stage presence, and it was incredible to see just how long they've been doing what they do. The audience's adoration for them was palpable; it was an emotional connection that transcended time.

One of the coolest moments of the night was when Eddie LeVert, in his iconic red suit, graced the stage. All three members of The O'Jays appeared and wore awesome red suits as soon as the music began to play, and the audience erupted in cheers. Eddie LeVert, who is 81 years old, was still the epitome of charisma and talent, proving that age is just a number when it comes to the power of music.

I had the privilege of sharing this remarkable evening with a friend from Los Angeles, and it was an absolute blast. We sat next to a couple who reminisced about being in school and hearing The O'Jays' music on the radio. The nostalgia in the air was truly something special.

I want to express my gratitude to Converge Media for making this experience possible. It was an opportunity to transport ourselves back to the days when our grandparents played these tunes in the house, and we got to two-step to the same melodies. The O'Jays delivered an amazing performance, and I encourage anyone who has the chance to see these legends live to seize the opportunity. When the Paramount Theater hosts such fantastic shows, it's a chance to create lasting memories and relive the timeless classics that have shaped our musical heritage. Don't miss out on the magic of artists like The O'Jays when the chance arises.
