Lloyd Gregory Joined The Day With Trae to Discuss The Pioneer Square Summer Market
Today on The Day With Trae, Lloyd Gregory joined to discuss his upcoming Pioneer Square Summer Market and Music Festival. The event will feature vendors, art, music, food and more on June 10th from 11 am - 6 pm at Occidental Square.
He said his love for the area blossomed in 2020, and he decided to help preserve Pioneer Square and help it blossom.
“I would come down here every day during the pandemic, and I fell in love with Pioneer Square,” Gregory said. “I felt like someone had to take care of it, and so why not me.”
The idea for the market came from his desire to bring a block party type event back to the area. He says this is the first step towards that goal, and that he hopes people will embrace the market and festival and allow it to continue to grow.
“I started the project about a year and a half ago, and I just wanted to bring people together and create these community environments,” Gregory said.
He also said he felt Pioneer Square deserves a block party, and that seeing other neighborhoods in Seattle create their own community events pushed him to build this festival.
“This is about everybody feeling like it’s their Pioneer Square and to feel included,” Gregory said.
