Markham McIntyre, the Director of the Office of Economic Development, joins The Day With Trae

The Director of the Office of Economic Development Markham McIntyre joined Trae Holiday to discuss the things the OED is doing to help small businesses, as well as the Storefront Repair Fund, which helps business owners who’s businesses have been damaged or vandalized.

“We’re providing a menu of options for folks,” McIntyre said. “We want to help get them on their feet, get them being successful, and then hopefully building wealth over generations.”

McIntyre and Holiday also spoke about the importance of building relationships within the community and how the OED has gone about doing so.

“It’s something that we have to work on,” McIntyre said. “We have connections throughout the city’s geography and in a lot of different communities. We want to make sure people know we’re trying to work with them on their journey as they grow and thrive as a business.”

McIntyre also spoke about why he believes Seattle is so special.

“Seattle has all the right ingredients to be a leader. We have the resources, the brainpower and the values. There’s really nothing we can’t do in Seattle,” McIntyre said.
