Mediums Collective hosts 2023 Runway Show and Grand Opening on Capitol Hill

Mediums Collective hosted their 2023 Runway show and Opening Night party at their location at 705 E Pike St as Roger and Cesar Maldonado hosted a night to remember.

“It’s been a long time coming,” Cesar Maldonado said. “We’ve been grinding for 3000 days and this is a celebration of what we’ve accomplished together with family and friends.”

The event featured performances, the runway show, and an afterparty. Attendees included Black Stax, Marshall Hugh of the Marshall Law Band, Robel from the UpNUp Podcast and more.

“This is a monumental occasion our brothers, the people who've been here with us since the very beginning,” Hugh said. “They set up shop. They're having a fashion show. And they're business owners. They've been doing it on the street, they set the example, now we're back on the hill just supporting them and it's authentic."

For the Maldonado brothers, it was a truly a full circle moment. After beginning their business selling clothing from bins on the sidewalk, opening a brick and mortar retail space on Capitol Hill is a dream come true.

“Now that we have a space we can build and we can continue to grow and scale,” Maldonado said. “I’m excited to keep exapanding the vision of Mediums Collective.”

It’s a brand they’ve built authentically and through the community. Jace of Black Stax said he was proud to be in attendance to support.

“They've been putting it on for the hood for a minute, supporting acts and supporting the talent. We want to be here and support them the same way,” Jace said.

Felicia Loud, also of Black Stax, agreed, saying that Mediums community focused approach has been inspiring.

“The way they appreciated the community in Seattle was needed, in terms of having a representation of style and class,” Loud said. “They wanted to make sure that everyone is a part of that style and class.”

Robel Andmicael, of the UpNUp Podcast, says he’s proud of the business the brothers have built and says that the way the’ve done it has been unique and important to the creative community.

“They've been able to create a brand that actually provides a space for the creatives, the professionals, the artists out here who may not be into fashion. They make them a part of their brand,” Andmicael said.

The event was a high-energy look into the world of Seattle fashion as well as a celebration of the accomplishments of the Maldonado brothers. You can watch our full recap above.
