Focus On Film: Finding Go, The Legacy of Adé Hogue a Converge Media Original Film

Today, we revisit Finding Go: The Story of Adé Hogue. This film took the Converge Production crew across the country, from Asheville, North Carolina to Chicago, Illinois. It was truly an honor to dive into Hogue’s story and highlight his legacy as one of his generation’s leading lettering artists and graphic designers. Unfortunately, Hogue was killed in a bike accident in 2021. Despite his untimely death, his impact was clearly felt by those who knew him and those who saw his art.

The film premiered at Hogue’s Alma Mater UNC Charlotte on September 1st, 2022 during an event honoring Hogue’s work and showcasing his art.

“Truly amazing is the feeling that I had during the premiere. How his story was displayed touched me in the bottom of my heart. My hat goes off to people from Coverage Media for how everything was put together in such an inspiring way,” Adé’s father Ben Hougue said.

Our team spoke with people from all sectors of Hogue’s life. From childhood friends, to professors, parents, and even those he knew through Chicago’s bike community, the film offers an in-depth look at what made Hogue such an outstanding artist and human.

“I am honored that we got to share a snapshot of our son’s life with everyone through the lens of this film. I am so overwhelmed & humbled by the love shown to myself, my family & for my beloved son Broderick.” Adé’s mother Vanessa Hogue said.

For the Converge crew, working on the film was a labor of love. Each individual who contributed felt their own connection to Hogue’s story, and early mornings and red-eye flights turned into one of Converge Media’s crowning achievments.

“Making this film was truly one of the greatest achievements in our company's 6 year history. We’re hopeful that this film will not only give insights on Adé’s life, but also will encourage people to support Adé’s scholarship fund,” Converge Media Founder and the film’s Executive Producer Omari Salisbury said.

One of Hogue’s crowning achievements was creating the lettering for Our Commitment, a specially-designed 737 commissioned by Alaska Airlines in partnership with the United Negro College Fund to showcase their commitment to racial equality and education. Our team had the opportunity to showcase the film at Alaska’s headquarters in Seattle in front of a select group of staff and executives.

“Finding Go was about so much more than the artwork of Adé Hogue. It was the beautifully told story around how he approached his life, the joy he brought to his family and how he affected the people around him,” Sarah Keimig, Diversity and Inclusion Specialist at Alaska Airlines, said. “I found this documentary to be about finding and accepting your purpose and trusting that the path in front of you will lead you precisely where you need to be. I will remember this documentary, his story, whenever I feel unsure. It was very inspiring and motivating and I’m grateful for the chance to get to know the person Adé was.”
