Sierra Jones: Creating a space INSIDE for health and healing in downtown Seattle
By Vaughn Williams
Washington may be heating up and preparing for the summer weather, but Sierra Jones has us all wanting to look for A Space Inside. Inside is Sierra Jones’ dream vision of a tranquil, inviting space for healing art and business. Inside is a massive collaboration space between small businesses, and it is redefining what it is to be a business owner within Seattle.
Jones’s motivation behind the launch of Inside was to have a space that prioritizes self-care while also providing a space for BIPOC to feel safe and accepted. “We are here to create a space where being BIPOC is celebrated, protected, and elevated,” says Inside’s mission statement.
Inside is also host to multiple events, workshops, and classes. “The types of experiences you’ll get at Inside, that you’ll look forward to, are really fun, specifically curated things to help you expand who you are,” said Jones.
An event that Jones went into depth about is the Paint & Sip: Couples Night event. This night was obviously filled with lots of paintbrushes and Chardonnay. However, Jones also made sure to elevate this event by including a professional therapist to build each couple’s communication and intimacy and a five-star celebrity chef who cooked mouth-watering appetizers.
Small businesses and artists are also getting their start because of Inside. According to Jones, Inside is home to the products of 36 different brands and artists.
“I wanted to really amplify these amazing brands and products. and these people in this community so that we can collectively as a group support each other,” said Jones.
Jone’s vision for Inside was made possible by the Seattle Restored program. Their goal is to revitalize Downtown Seattle by allowing local artists and small businesses to showcase their art or open storefronts. Out of the 150 people that applied for Seattle restores initial launch, only five applicants were chosen for pop-up shops. So, statistics show that Inside is undeniably an excellent business.
Help Jones bring life, energy, and knowledge about self-care and art to the BIPOC community within Seattle. Black-owned businesses in Seattle are on the rise, and Jones is here to help lead the charge.
