Spiritual Leader and Teacher Ra Un Nefer Amen I joined The Day With Trae

Ra Un Nefer Amen, a distinguished spiritual teacher and author, joined The Day With Trae this morning to share his remarkable journey of spiritual exploration and the founding of the Ausar Auset Society. With over 50 years of existence and a presence in more than 30 cities worldwide, the Ausar Auset Society has become a beacon of spiritual guidance and community support.

During his late 20s and early 30s, Ra Un Nefer Amen delved into extensive readings on esoteric science, ancient Egyptian texts, and New Age philosophies. As he began counseling individuals, he noticed an uncanny ability to offer insights that deeply resonated with people. Inspired by their feedback and guided by his intuition, he made the pivotal decision to shift his focus from a successful career in music to dedicating himself to uplifting the spiritual well-being of others.

“I did a reading about my destiny. And it told me to give up, first of all, to say, Oh, you're very talented, but give it up,” Amen said about his music career. “How was I gonna give up after some 25 years of studying music? But that's what I did. I meditated and gave it up, dedicating myself to teaching people.”

Writing a series of influential books in the early 1970s marked the initial phase of his transformative work. However, Ra Un Nefer Amen soon realized that spiritual development couldn't be achieved solely through intellectual engagement with written material. The crucial component was the establishment of a supportive community where individuals could grow spiritually, mutually support one another, and foster accountability.

“It became clear to me that you cannot help to develop people spiritually by just giving them books and, and going over things intellectually,” Amen said. “What you need to have is a community where everybody is dedicated to helping each other grow spiritually and supporting each other.”

To create an effective organizational structure, Ra Un Nefer Amen drew inspiration from traditional African governmental systems, particularly the Yoruba system. This innovative approach garnered attention from influential figures, including the king Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. In 1984, the Ausar Auset Society organized the first royal reception for an African king outside of Africa. Impressed by the society's authentic connection to African traditions, the king invited them to Ghana in 1985, where Ra Un Nefer Amen I received honorary titles and recognition as a co-ruler in the Ashanti region and other parts of Ghana.

The impact of these honors reverberated within the Ausar Auset Society and its members. The experience of being received with full regalia by the Ashanti kingdoms in Kumasi left an indelible mark, reinforcing the teaching that their lineage was not that of slavery but of kings and queens.

“Here we are restoring our kingship here in America, with recognition in Africa, and this is very important for our young people to understand,” Amen said.

Ra Un Nefer Amen's books, which served as foundational teachings, have brought about transformative change in the lives of many. Celebrities, heads of Masonic orders, and seekers of spiritual enlightenment sought his counsel, drawn by the profound wisdom and practical application of esoteric teachings to everyday life. The Ausar Auset Society's community offers support and guidance in various aspects of life, including relationships, marriage, childbirth, and funeral ceremonies.

Beyond the intellectual exploration of esoteric sciences, the Ausar Auset Society has established social institutions such as schools, midwifery programs, priesthood members, and elders. Graduates have gone on to become parents and pursue higher education at prestigious universities. The society's holistic approach fosters spiritual unity, harmony, and personal growth through meditation, rituals, and counseling.

Ra Un Nefer Amen's remarkable journey demonstrates the profound impact of blending ancient teachings with community support and practical application. The Ausar Auset Society continues to thrive, empowering individuals and cultivating spiritual enlightenment through the wisdom of their African ancestors.
