Takiyah Miller, the owner of Tea Moss Shop, joined The Day With Trae

Takiyah Miller, entrepreneur and owner of Tea Moss Shop, sat down with Trae Holiday on The Day with Trae to talk about how she founded the Tea Moss Shop as well as the health benefits of sea moss and lemonade.

The Tea Moss Shop was created out of the search for natural immune boosters. She discovered and took particular interest in sea moss after learning the potential benefits it possesses.

"I started hearing people talk about sea moss, so I said let me check it out. I tried it, and it was decent," said Miller. The thing that really won me over was that I kept hearing, "Okay, it has 92 of the 102 vitamins and minerals that our body needs."

Miller considers relationships and community building to be vital to the establishment of her business. She linked up with a Caribbean woman who was into the sea moss business.

"I just picked her brand and started sharing ideas with her, and we developed an amazing relationship."

Sea moss enriches the body with a lot of minerals and can be served in different ways. Miller creates products based on various ways sea moss can be served.

"A lot of people are making the gels, and they are consuming them whether they are plain or flavored, so I started off with plain gels," Takiyah said. "It's perfect in hot water, steamed milk, plant-based, however you want to do it. Same with the hibiscus, ginger, lemon, those things that are really comforting and get those minerals into your system." Said Takiyah.

She rebranded her business when she saw the need to transition from selling sea moss to serving lemonade. She and her team staged an awareness campaign and product launch that resulted in success. Starting off with a sea moss water base, she says her lemonades have similar health benefits to the gels.

"The first drinks we had were lavender lemonade, prickly pear, and cactus lemonade, and then it was like, ‘Let's try watermelon-lavender, let's try dragon fruits, let's do strawberry-hibiscus tea, let's get these options out here’.”
