Movin’ and Groovin’: Friends, Community Join Trae Holiday For 90s Themed Music Video Shoot

Last month, the community showed up for Trae Holiday and The Day With Trae when she put out a call to appear in her new intro video at Medgar Evers. The video shoot was a part of a greater relaunch of her show, which will see a total revamp of her set, graphics, and more heading into the new year. It’s part of a push by Holiday to showcase the great work being done in and around the community as she highlights leaders, organizers, performers, business owners and more. 

The shoot featured those close to Holiday and Converge, as well as those who wanted to come support the show. Many embraced the ‘90s theme for the shoot, showing up in their best threads from before the turn of the century.

“This show is all about community, it's about uplifting community,” Holiday said. “So because of that, I’m really excited that the community showed up for this shoot and embraced it.”

Holiday says the relaunch will re-affirm the shows focus on bringing people information which is beneficial to them as well as telling inspiring and uplifting stories.

“I really aim to utilize this media platform to uplift people, to entertain them, to educate them, to inform them, but most of all, to inspire them,” Holiday said. “To me, all of those elements are really what creating impactful media is all about.”

She was also excited about the folks who came out to support, saying that the new intro will set the tone for her vision perfectly. The representation present from across the community fits what Holiday looks to bring to her audience as she sets out to bring people from across the Emerald City together.

“I'm so grateful that people came out for the music video shoot because it really will be reflective of so many in the community who have poured into me and who I've been able to pour into and who honestly, just are amazing representation of what community looks like,” Holiday said.
