Traveling While Black: Anthony and Marlie Love's Journey and Mission
In a recent interview with Trae Holiday on The Day With Trae Anthony and Marlie Love, hosts of the popular YouTube channel "Traveling While Black," shared their experiences and insights from their recent road trip across America.
The couple, originally from Missouri, embarked on a cross-country journey from Seattle back to their home state, documenting their experiences along the way. Their goal was to highlight the often-overlooked Black history in various cities and towns, as well as to connect with local Black communities.
Discovering Hidden Black History
One of the most rewarding aspects of the trip for Anthony and Marlie was the opportunity to uncover hidden Black history. In Kansas City, they met with Bob Kendrick, the president of the Negro Leagues Museum, and learned about the city's rich baseball heritage. They also visited the first Black-owned brewery in Missouri, co-owned by a passionate entrepreneur named Commit.
These encounters, and others like them, reinforced the couple's belief that Black history is everywhere, even in places where it may not be immediately visible.
Lessons Learned on the Road
The road trip was not without its challenges, but Anthony and Marlie embraced the unexpected and learned valuable lessons along the way. From technical issues with their filming equipment to the need for flexibility in their travel plans, they adapted and persevered.
Inspiring a Growing Audience
The positive response to their road trip series has been overwhelming. Viewers have expressed their appreciation for the couple's unique perspective and their commitment to showcasing Black culture and history. Anthony and Marlie are grateful for the support and are excited to continue sharing their adventures with a growing audience.
Upcoming Adventures
The couple has exciting plans for future episodes, including exploring the Oregon coast and venturing into northern Washington. They are eager to continue their mission of highlighting Black history and culture, both within and beyond their home state of Washington.
