Trey Lamont Opens New Jerk Shack Location in the Central District
Yesterday the Jerk Shack Kitchen opened its doors for the first time in Seattle’s #CentralDistrict and our Besa Gordon was the FIRST customer at Chef Trey Lamont’s second and newest location on 23rd and Union. Lamont, a Central District native, has been cooking up cuban eats for years in Pioneer Square (where the Jerk Shack will stay open), and now expands his reach with a second location to the heart of Seattle’s Central District.
“It’s really meaningful for me to come back to the Central District because we’re really trying to get folks to come back here,” Lamont said. “It’s going to give people who are from this community a chance to come back and see familiar faces.”
Gordon tried the grilled fish, grilled shrimp, and a softshell crab sandwich, and was very impressed with her experience during the restaurants soft opening. During the soft opening phase, you can come enjoy the food and vibes but make sure to keep an eye out for the grand opening celebration.
“If you haven’t been here, definitely pull up,” Gordon said. “It was a whole vibe. This food is amazing and flavorful and everything I needed.”
Lamont says the inspiration for the new space came from his past, as well as what he sees in the future.
“It’s a more relaxed and chill vibe,” Lamont said. “I started out with a food truck before I went to brick and mortar, and this new store is sort of a brick and mortar fusion.”
You can visit the newest location of Jerk Shack Kitchen at 2301 E Union Street, Seattle, Washington, 98122, as well as The Jerk Shack at 2510 1st Ave, Seattle, WA 98121.
