Brad Finegood talks about overdose prevention

Meet Brad Finegood, MA, LMHC, a dedicated Strategic Advisor at Public Health – Seattle & King County. Brad leads the overdose prevention efforts for Public Health, drawing on his extensive experience in the field. Before this role, he served as the Drug and Alcohol Coordinator and the Health Integration Specialist for the Behavioral Health and Recovery Division at King County, where he co-chaired the County’s Heroin and Prescription Opioid Task Force. Brad holds a Master’s in Community Agency Counseling with a Specialty in Alcohol and Drug Addiction from Western Michigan University and has over 25 years of experience in both direct service and administration in the drug and alcohol field. His commitment to this work is deeply personal, as he is the survivor of a brother who died of a drug overdose.

Brad stopped by The Day With Trae, hosted this week by Besa Gordon, to discuss overdose prevention. He elaborated on the critical strategies and interventions currently being implemented to address the opioid crisis and reduce overdose deaths. Brad highlighted the importance of community outreach, education, and support services in combating this public health issue. He also shared personal anecdotes and professional insights, emphasizing the significance of a compassionate and comprehensive approach to addiction and recovery. His visit underscored the urgent need for continued efforts and collaboration to make a meaningful impact in the fight against overdose and addiction.
