BT discusses what upcoming projects heʻs working on

Meet BT, born and raised in the Omaha, NE suburbs in 1990, navigated the unique complexities of being a queer, mixed-race Black individual. Despite feelings of isolation, BT found a social refuge in their artistic talent and began taking commissions at the age of 14.

Influenced by multiple intersectional lenses, BT’s work features striking visual portmanteaus and blends of subjects and styles. They describe their style as Pop-Surrealistic, characterized by bright colors, clean lines, and bizarre themes. BT enjoys elevating kitschy, often overlooked styles and subverting expectations. Their notable clients include MoPOP, MTV, and The PNW Pride Foundation. As a founding member of the Vivid Matter (Art) Collective, BT contributed to Seattle's BLM mural during the June 2020 protests.

BT stopped by The Day With Trae to discuss recent and upcoming projects, sharing insights into their latest artistic endeavors and collaborations. They highlighted their innovative approach to creativity and offered a glimpse into future exhibitions and events, showcasing their ongoing commitment to artistic exploration and community engagement. BT’s artistic practice spans commission work, community events, and teaching, primarily in two-dimensional paint media. With training in fine and performing arts, they incorporate rhythm, storytelling, and motion into their visual art. Additionally, BT has experience as an Emergency Medical Technician and is excited to merge these interests through tattooing.
