Javann Jones shares the return of Seattleʻs all-black comedy showcase, #TheBLACKOUT

Meet Javann Jones, a Seattle-based writer and stand-up comedian. Born and raised in Alabama, he embodies a unique blend of Southern charm and brazen outspokenness. Described as "uncomfortably funny," Javann's sharp wit and engaging humor have made him a standout in the comedy scene. He created #TheBLACKOUT after experiencing the challenges of being both Black and queer in comedy, aiming to establish a safe space where Black comedians can be authentically themselves and connect with the Black community.

Javann stopped by The Day With Trae to discuss the exciting return of Seattle's only all-Black comedy showcase, #TheBLACKOUT, which will be coming back from its six-month hiatus on June 27th in a new home: LANGSTON. During the interview, Javann shared his vision for #TheBLACKOUT and the significance of providing a platform for Black comedians to shine. He spoke passionately about the importance of representation and community, highlighting how the showcase offers both performers and audiences a space to celebrate Black culture and humor. Javann's dedication to creating an inclusive environment for Black artists is evident in every aspect of his work.
