Jodi Nishioka: Building Bridges and Breaking Barriers for Marginalized Communities

Jodi Nishioka has dedicated her career to advocating for marginalized communities, with a focus on BIPOC and low-income individuals, particularly women, children, and immigrants. Her journey began as an attorney, providing legal aid to immigrant domestic violence survivors and single mothers navigating child support battles in Boston and Honolulu.

Transitioning from legal aid to governmental roles in Hawaii and Seattle, Jodi continued her tireless work for women and children. She later extended her advocacy efforts to grassroots nonprofit organizations. Jodi's leadership roles, such as Co-Director at the BIPOC ED Coalition of Washington and her twelve-year tenure as Executive Director of Communities Rise, exemplify her commitment to empowering communities of color and those facing economic hardship.

In these positions, she effectively combines her legal expertise and nonprofit management skills to drive positive change. Furthermore, Jodi's six-year involvement on the Board of Directors of JustLead Washington, including her founding role as Board President, underscores her dedication to fostering justice and equity.

Recently, Jodi stopped by The Day With Trae and discussed the Coalition's programs, focusing on wellness initiatives like the Sabbatical Leadership Program for BIPOC Leaders with Trae Holiday.
