Afua Kouyate joins Trae Holiday to talk about the African Cultural Arts Center

Afua Kouyate of the African Cultural Arts Center joined The Day With Trae to discuss their 2023 campaign kickoff and the work the center has been doing in the community to uplift and elevate the arts.

For the first time in 2023, Kouyate said the center will have a public facing office where people can come to engage with arts and culture.

“Before, our offices had been in our living rooms,” Kouyate said. “We’ll have a public facing ACAC office, a board room, and the property itself will be renamed to be a living archive.”

For Kouyate, having this space to honor her roots and heritage is critical to the development of both the center and the community.

“It’s a creative advantage that we want to sustain,” Kouyate said. “This will allow people to have a sacred space.”
