Besa Gordon and Trae Holiday take LA for Hadestown tour kickoff

Trae and Besa are all smiles at the Hadestown tour kickoff

Converge Media’s Besa Gordon and Trae Holiday travelled to LA for the beginning of the Hadestown national tour, part of Broadway Across America. They brought Converge’s brand to the red carpet as they talked to actors from the show and writer Anais Mitchell. The pair enjoyed the trip, saying that it was empowering to be included in the proceedings and that the show blew them away.

“We got to be on the red carpet and look at all of the amazing Black actors and actresses that graced the red carpet,” Holiday said. “They too were pointing us out. One of my favorite actresses from Harlem was there, she literally pointed us out, like, ‘oh, what's up, y'all’. People were just happy to see us.”

Gordon added that it was impactful to be present in that space.

“I think it was great representation both for them to have us there and for us to feel that appreciation to be there,” Gordon said. “It was very eye-opening.”

She said that seeing such appreciation from the actors and actresses in the show was a big deal and that she was very appreciative of the opportunity to represent Converge in such a big way.

As for the show, both Holiday and Gordon said it was ‘perfectly executed’. They praised everything from the set design to the music to the acting, with Gordon saying she can’t wait to see it again. “And I’m not usually the type of person to want to see something twice,” she added.

“I feel like each person that sees it will find something different that they can relate to, or that they will gravitate to,” Gordon said. “I know I personally am just like a huge, hopeless romantic. So I definitely almost cried throughout the show.”

Holiday made sure to thank Seattle Theatre Group and Broadway Across America for including Converge in the proceedings.

“I can't wait for another opportunity to do that again. With this partnership of Seattle Theatre Group and Converge, they really understood the value of our presence at an event like this, which for me was truly top notch,” Holiday said.

Hadestown begins its run at the Paramount Theatre on July 12th and concludes on the 17th. You can purchase tickets here
