Downtown Seattle’s Only 100% Black-Owned Restaurant Needs Community Support

Chef Trey Lamont put out a call requesting community support in his mission to re-open Jerk Shack, Downtown Seattle’s only 100% Black-owned Restaurant. Lamont says that the staffing shortages, supply chain issues, and residual effects of the pandemic has led them to reconsider the way they operate, and now inflation has begun to slow the flow of business.

“Despite these hardships, Jerk Shack still stands with the support of our community,” Lamont said. “Because we were not aided by the restaurant revitalization fund from the government, we need your help.”

Lamont says the downtown location needs that extra support get back open as business begins to return to the downtown corridor. He started a GoFundMe with the goal of raising $100,000 which he says would support the business and the community.

“If we can receive financial help, I think we would change the lives of our employees as well as our community,” Lamont said.
Please help us reopen Jerk Shack in Downtown Seattle as the city comes back to life.”
