Nubian Knots and New Adventures: Trae Holiday Soaks In Kenyan Culture

Trae Holiday and Shirley in the mix in Mombasa.

Trae Holiday, host of The Day with Trae, is keeping us updated on her travels to Kenya, where she will be hosting the Madaraka Festival on December 14th in Kisumu City.

Jambo everyone!

Just wanted to give you all a quick update on my adventures in Kenya. As you know, I had a long travel day to get here, but I'm finally adjusted to the time difference and feeling refreshed.

Today was incredible! I spent the day exploring Mombasa with Shirley (@zyl_shirley,) who showed me around like a true local. We hit up the market, where Shirley made sure I was treated properly and gave me some personal insight into the city and culture. Then, we strolled along the waterfront and had the most amazing lunch at Char-Choma. The atmosphere was electric – families, friends, delicious food, music, and the beautiful water. It was truly special. This was a part of Mombasa that I didn’t get to explore the last time I was here so many years ago. I’m truly grateful for this experience!!

I decided to put my hair in Nubian knots for the day and go with a different look. It’ll also help me get more body for my hair for the Madaraka Festival tomorrow. 😅

Speaking of the festival, I'm beyond excited! I can't wait to experience the music, culture, and energy of this amazing event. I'll be sure to share all the highlights with you.

Stay tuned for more updates!

Kwaheri!
