Reconciliation Tour: Converge Media’s new film on Baseball, Civil Rights, and Equality

Converge Media presents the trailer for Reconciliation Tour, a soon to be released short film that documents Seattle’s Baseball Beyond Borders Kings’ eye opening journey through the “Heart of the South” to Jackson, Mississippi and Montgomery, Alabama; a journey which included baseball, civil rights, and reconciliation.

In Jackson, the Kings teamed up with the John and Vera Mae Perkins Foundation for the inaugural Perkins Foundation All-Star Camp at Jackson State University, which was focused on teaching baseball skills to Jackson youth with the larger goal of inspiring youth to #TryBaseball. The camp brought together the Seattle Kings and the youth of Jackson, many of whom had never played baseball, with the intentions to introduce the game to younger kids and sharpen skills for older ones.

In Montgomery, the Kings were able to bear witness to the Equal Justice Initiative’s Legacy Museum and National Memorial for Peace and Justice. They also heard from Anthony Ray Hinton, American Activist and Author, who is the longest serving death row inmate in Alabama State history after being incarcerated for 30 years for a crime he did not commit.

This trailer features words from Dr. John M. Perkins, Seattle Mariners legend Dan Wilson, Baseball Beyond Borders founder Bookie Gates, Author and Activist Anthony Ray Hinton and more. See highlights from the journey, and get excited for the release of the full-length film coming soon.

Reconciliation Tour was made possible with the generous support of Molly Moon’s Homemade Ice Cream, Ezell’s Famous Chicken, MJS Investors, and Amazon.

Produced by Ike Everard and Directed by Brady McAtee
