Trae Holiday reflects on ‘The Day with Trae’ as it enters its third season
By Mead Gill - After over 200 episodes in 2024, Trae Holiday is kicking off the third season of her show “The Day With Trae” more excited and inspired than ever. Season three is looking to bring a new level of informing, inspiring, and creating impact media for not just the Seattle community, but the world.
At its core, “The Day With Trae” showcases creators, business owners, and impactful figures from the Seattle area, while looking to expand outreach to the greater Pacific Northwest and beyond.
“What I truly started this for was to highlight how everyday people are she-roes, heroes, they-ros. They have superpowers that they are sharing with their communities, and they deserve to be uplifted,” Holiday said.
After a recent trip to Kisumu, Kenya to work with the media outlet One Vibe Africa, Holiday is committed to expanding “The Day With Trae.” Connecting with passionate Kenyan creators who lack the media outlets to share their work affirmed the extreme power that Holiday has in uplifting voices. In a world full of inspirational people that go unheard, season three has the power to amplify them, said Holiday.
Holiday’s dream is for the show to make it on a national platform in the next couple years. Season three will continue to feature local guests while exploring stories from visitors across the country, potentially Portland and Detroit.
The inspirational panel of guests featured last season showed off many aspects of Seattle’s culture and community. Among her favorites was Kibibi Monié, a beloved community elder dedicated to immersing the next generation in the arts. Another highlight was Seattle musician and social entrepreneur Keith Tucker whose passions for hip hop and climate activism shine new light on health and wellness in Black culture.
“If we can insert inspiration into peoples’ lives, it’ll help break up the apathy that a lot of people have in terms of the world they live in,” Holiday said.
The tight-knit community Holiday described working with Besa Gordon, Deaunte Damper, and the Converge team adds another layer of confidence in taking “The Day With Trae” to the next level this season. In the hopes of honing in on individual stories even more, the new season will feature just one guest per episode.
“As people share with me how they just are so motivated and inspired by the work we’re doing on ‘The Day With Trae,’ that really is a true testament. And I think it affirms my efforts,” Holiday said.
The third season of “The Day With Trae” premiers Monday, January 13th at 11:00 a.m. on Converge Media.
