Recently, Award-Winning Radio Host on Mjini FM in Tanzania and Author of The Life In My Men Abby Plaatjes travelled to Seattle, Washington to spend time exploring the Pacific Northwest and promote her book.

Recently, Besa Gordon headed down the I-5 corridor to the Rose City to tap in with some of the folks who make it special. While there, she hit up the Moda Center for a Trailblazers game and linked up with her good friend DJ OG One.

Last week on Back2Besa, Host Besa Gordon headed to Providence Park in Portland to tap in with Portland Timbers and Thorns FC VP of Community and Social Impact Dr. Robin Beavers, who works to build community through soccer in the Rose City.

Besa Gordon tapped in at the Columbia Tower Club’s SipNShop Art Expo, which featured local artists displaying and selling their work alongside local food and drink options. The event featured a wide variety of art, from painting to sculpture and even candles and gems.

The weather is getting colder, and that means it’s candle season. Besa Gordon took a trip over to Noir Lux  Candle Co. to tap in with Owner and CEO Colina Bruce, who founded the company in her kitchen during the pandemic.

The Black Spiritualist Sierra Jones is bringing her healing skills to the community by hosting sound baths at Inside, a space she owns in Seattle. A certified Reiki Master Teacher and Sound Healer, Jones has been helping people around Seattle find their peace and heal for years.

On this week’s edition of BackstagePass, Back2Besa Host Besa Gordon headed over to Langston Seattle for this year’s KuttNUp Massacre. The Massacre is an annual dance show which has been a staple in the community for over a decade, showcasing crews from all over the city.

A Seattle company is using new technologies to help people around the city remember the past. Revere XR is showcasing the power of Virtual Reality by creating immersive storytelling experiences based on the history of communities around Seattle.

You know how much Back2Besa Host Besa Gordon loves mixers, so you know she had to check out the monthly Sync Seattle Mixer which takes place every third Thursday at Still Liquor. Dedicated to creating space for Seattle’s Black community and highlighting Black businesses and non-profits, Sync Seattle is all about bringing together social connections.

It’s Halloween and businesses across Seattle are getting in the spirit of the Holiday. Couture Cocktails 206 and owner Ashaunti Martin hosted a Halloween Cocktail making class at Made Space earlier this month, and Back2Besa Host Besa Gordon was there to tap in and #SupportBlackBusiness.

On this week's episode of #Back2Besa, we met Zaccharya Wisdom - the first Black draft pick of the Seattle Kraken. Earlier this year we headed to the Kraken Development Camp to take a look at the newest members of Seattle’s hockey team, and connected with Wisdom to hear about his journey to the NHL.

The Seattle Kraken organization is on the rise and thriving on and off the ice. Earlier this year, we had the opportunity to visit the Kraken Community Iceplex in Northgate to look behind the scenes and meet four employees at the top of their fields.

On Saturday, the Seattle Association of Black Journalists hosted their fourth annual Beyond The Byline event which celebrates the impacts of legendary Black Journalists in the city and provides an opportunity for community members and peers to connect and learn.

Seattle Kraken Photo Editor Liv Lyons is an example of chasing dreams and breaking down barriers. Lyons has been creating space for Black women in the industry after she began shooting Mariners games at T-Mobile Park with Circling Seattle Sports just 18 months ago.

Featuring nearly 400 artists, Terrain has firmly established its name as one of the top destinations for art lovers in the Pacific Northwest. It’s Kraken season and you know Back2Besa Host Besa Gordon had to head over to the Team shop to get her fit together ahead of the first home game of the year. She was joined by stylist Akia Ronai as she picked out some of the most fly apparel on offer.

Back2Besa host Besa Gordon tapped into her Chakra and love for crystals and visited Rainbow-Renee Wyola Manier at the crystal shop she co-owns, Ola Wyola, on Rainier Ave S. While there, she explored the various crystals and amulets Wyola has on offer and partook in a cleansing Sound Bowl healing ritual.

Last week, Besa Gordon decided to do something that she hadn’t done in a while… a real deal roadtrip. She took a trip across the state to Spokane - and let her tell it.
