Food Justice Town Hall
RBAC and Friends of Rainier Beach Urban Farms and Wetlands and Y-WE (Young Women Empowered) are hosting a Town Hall at the Rainier Beach Urban Farm and Wetlands on May 4th, 3:00pm-6pm. We are bringing young people who do food justice work in Seattle's South end together to share what they do and how how amazing they are.
Purpose is:
-To get to know what other youth who are doing food justice work
-To ensure the next generation of growers and leaders
-Celebrate your work and accomplishments in the food justice movement
-Uprooting racism in the food system

With Dr. Ben Danielson, Abigail Echo-Hawk, Deaunte Damper, and Darryl Foto.
Co-hosted by Grimay Zahilay, Joy Hollingsworth, Oliver GOH, Jaebadiah Gardner, & Hewan Teshome.
This event will be held at A Space Inside on April 25th,2024 6 pm- 730pm.

BUILD Barbershop Series 2024
BUILD 206 is taking the "shop talk" to a new level as we host and facilitate discussions at local Black owned Barbershops in the greater Seattle area. Each discussion will include community members with personal experience in navigating systems/issues that impact Black men and boys. It is an opportunity for our community to come together, share, listen and learn from each-others experiences. We are kicking this years BUILD Barbershop Series off starting at J-Styles Barbershop.
These conversations are open to the public. Please feel free to join us and invite others.

As part of our Fade to Black film series, join LANGSTON for a special screening of Gilda Sheppard's Since I Been Down and post-film talkback. In the film we meet Kimonti Carter and the innovative prisoner education program he founded: TEACH. The film unravels why children commit violent crime and how these children – now adults – are breaking free from their fate by creating a model of justice that is transforming their lives, our humanity and a quality of life for all our children.
IMPROV FOR ALL
For all experience levels. Learn how to take bigger risks, build your self-confidence, and have fun being your truest self! You will get the most out of this course by dropping in consistently each week, as there will be a new element to focus on in each class. Then we'll introduce more complex games throughout the 2nd half of the course. At the end of the 8 weeks, we will have a show at Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute, so your friends and family will be able to see all of your hard work!

Wa Na Wari is proud to present the art of Marin Burnett (Renton, Washington), Brandon Donahue-Shipp (Baltimore, Maryland), DK (Seattle, Washington), and Christopher Iduma (Lagos, Nigeria) on view from February 3-April 20, 2024.

WORLD CANCER DAY
Cierra Sisters host a discussion panel with cancer survivors and world-renown research and medical experts. Join us as we bridge the gap for inclusion and education, using film and music as a tool for healing. We seek to tear down the barriers between the Black community and the scientific community. Our goal is to change the way we think about cancer and the health disparity affecting all of us.
GRANT WRITING DAY PARTY
Join "The Grant Goddess" Tana Yasu for a Grant Writing Day Party! We will look for and write grants together. RSVP limited to 25 in-person seats. Food and refreshments will be provided.
