From Trauma to Triumph: Myesha Mitchell's Inspiring Story

Myesha Mitchell's journey is one of resilience, purpose, and community. In a recent interview on "The Day With Trae" with guest host Deaunte Damper, Myesha shared her inspiring story and the driving force behind her business, My Time For Massage.

Myesha's path was far from conventional. Born and raised in Seattle, she became a mother at 16. Later, she faced a traumatic experience of police brutality in 2010, which led to mental health challenges and significant weight gain. "My own personal story is something that really brought me to the table of doing this work," Myesha explained. Despite these hardships, she channeled her pain into purpose, embarking on a journey of self-healing that eventually led her to massage therapy. "I really like to emphasize that using that pain and feeding it to purpose is what makes me different in the work that I do," she said.

Today, Myesha is the owner of My Time For Massage, a business that goes beyond just providing massages. She is a licensed Massage Therapist, Birth Doula, and Community Advocate. Myesha's business is deeply rooted in community equity, and she strives to make massage accessible to everyone. She even created the first free massage program in King County, serving 170 people in the last year. "I want to be able to have a community space that continues to grow and thrive," Myesha shared, emphasizing her vision for a welcoming and inclusive environment.

One of the unique aspects of My Time For Massage is Myesha's understanding of the challenges faced by single parents. She allows clients to bring their children to their appointments, addressing the barrier of childcare. She aims to create a "home away from home vibe" where everyone feels comfortable and supported. Myesha is also fundraising for a new space to expand her services and host community events. "I need a space that has room for us to be able to do that, to host community events and continue to grow," she stated.

Myesha's dedication to her clients and her community is evident in her work. Her story serves as a reminder that even in the face of adversity, it is possible to create something meaningful and impactful.
