Kyra Gaines of The Lavender Rights Projects Joins The Day With Trae

“At the end of the day, Blackness is excellence and Blackness is beautiful.” - Kyra, Community Engagement Manager for the Lavender Rights Project.

Kyra joined Trae Holiday on The Day With Trae last week to discuss the work LRP is doing to uplift the Trans community in the Pacific Northwest and beyond, as well as challenges facing the community as a whole.

“Even speaking from a Black, transgender experience, we are always on the frontlines when it comes to activism and protest and being committed defenders of our community,” Kyra said.

Holiday and Kyra also discussed the importance of unity and understanding how everyone can contribute to the uplift.

“No matter how you identify, or what your gender is, or what your sexual orientation is, there’s so much that we as Black people have to deal with all the time.” - Trae Holiday, host of The Day With Trae.
