Get to know Converge Media’s Ary Queen T Dub!

This week we caught up with multidisciplinary artist Kimisha Turner, our season one episode eight featured artist. Kimisha has since moved to the east coast with her family and has spent the last year settling into east coast life with her sister and son Malcolm. Kimisha has been making incredibly impactful art in Seattle for years, ever since an incredibly pivotal moment in her life. She was faced with choosing between the armed forces and art school and that choice led her to Cornish where she studied and graduated.

I was first introduced to the art of Mr. Pen Cayetano in preparation for our trip to Belize in November of last year. I wasn't familiar with much of the country prior to that, and sad to say had no interest in visiting to speak of. I can't even begin to describe how differently I feel about that country since that visit!

Our week two featured artist is none other than barry johnson. barry has been cranking out some of the dopest portrait pieces this side of the Mississippi, bringing humanity back to Black faces, bodies and stories.

Converge’s latest film takes a look at the repainting of the Black Lives Matter Mural in Capitol Hill with the VividMatterCollective. Takiyah “T-Dub” Ward takes viewers through the process and introduces some of the artists.

Moses Sun has been a fixture in my life since before I knew it. He and I are like brother and sister now and it feels like that has always been the case. I met Moses a while back through my partner when he was looking for models for a photo project he was working on.

July 9th marked an annual occasion for the VividMatterCollective (VMC), as they spent the day repairing the world famous Black Lives Matter Street mural on Capitol Hill. Set between the south end of Cal Anderson Park and Rancho Bravo, the mural takes up an entire lane between 10th and 11th Ave.

Breyahna's journey into art, while relatively new, has been filled with amazing experiences and triumphs. We catch up with Aramis as she prepares for her long awaited "Zodiac Show" and get to hear from the woman herself how she maintains balance in her world of art and media. Aramis a Seattle based, Chicago raised, nurse turned creative who has found art to be the mainstay in her self care. The depth of her imagery, which features ethereal feminine figures and universal elements, speaks to her connection to the great beyond. This is Art Of The Matter.

Barbara is an amazing Seattle-bred artist who has been speaking truth to power through her works for decades. From paper to paint to glass she tells stories of the people, places, and events that have shaped her worldview in a way that makes her audience feel seen and heard. She regales us with stories of her journey, her quarantine and the mission almost impossible she completed during the pandemic. And she's just getting started! This is Art Of The Matter.

#ArtOfTheMatter - Episode 5 we catch up with legendary Seattle artist, and owner of Jupiter Bar, Joey Nix to hear what the past couple of years have been like for him.

Hosted by Lake Union Partners at the Midtown Square the Dr. James Washington Jr & Mrs. Janie Rogella Washington Foundation unveiled a beautiful bronze statue in honor of Dr. Washington.

We are headed back to Belize AGAIN with Episode 4 of Art Of The Matter featuring the legendary Belizean artist Pen Cayetano. We visit him and his wife Ingrid at their creative compound, Studio Cayetano, to learn of his vast life story, his music, his art, and much more.

For episode 3 of Art Of The Matter, we take our talents to Belize to visit the self-taught phenom Kevin Moralez.

Episode one of the new series Art Of The Matter, hosted by TDUB, features abstract artist Moses Sun. This episode was filmed last September during Moses' show 'Freedom Ain't Free: Conversations with my Father' a mixed media installation based on "conversations with my dad and life events that shape my worldview". TDUB also visits Moses at his home studio, to see him in-process and discuss the depths of his work. The connection between Moses and TDUB is apparent and makes for a no holds barred exchange between friends about all things art, life and family.
