Today, we're shining a spotlight on a unique coffee shop in the heart of Seattle's Central District: Creative Cafe. Housed within the historic Washington Hall, Creative Cafe is more than just a place to grab a latte. It's a vibrant community space with a powerful mission.

The seventh annual Seattle Black College Expo recently took place at Rainier Beach High School, offering a wealth of opportunities for students to explore historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and other educational institutions. The event featured over 50 colleges, providing on-the-spot acceptance for some attendees, and included the presence of black-owned businesses and organizations.

Yesterday, Seattle City Councilmember Tammy Morales sat down with Shae Huppert, the ASB President at Garfield High School, and Ryan Croone, a Youth Community Advocate, to discuss mental health funding and youth involvement in Seattle.

Aaliyah is a proud GED grad and is in her first year at Seattle Central College. Starting with dance, drawing, and music, then incorporating poetry and writing, her love for the arts is endless and continues to grow as she steps into the role of youth assistant director of Lifted! Youth Gospel Choir, and works on her first EP. Though her teen years have been rocky, to say the least, Aaliyah is ready to bring raw vulnerability to the stage and give a compassionate voice to this community. She is so grateful to STG for this opportunity!

Besa Gordon showcased the skills of fifteen year old singer/songwriter Maya Russell, who performed her song ‘Take A Minute’ live at Seattle Theatre Group's Elevate.
