Holiday joined FOX 13's Sabirah Rayford and Hana Kim in the studio to share her personal insights and experiences with gun violence, emphasizing the urgent need for community involvement. Earlier in the day, Holiday recorded several conversations with elected officials and community leaders at Seattle’s Paramount Theatre which will be airing all this week on Converge Media.

Garfield High School celebrated its annual Purple and White Day Assembly last Friday. The walk was not too far, only 1.4 miles, but yesterday's Unity Walk from Jimi Hendrix Park to Garfield High School was not about the distance between two points but rather the first steps on a journey for peace, reconciliation, and community accountability in Seattle’s Central District neighborhood which has found itself in the throes of gun violence. The latest victim being Amarr Murphy-Paine a student at Garfield High School who was shot and killed last week on campus.

On Friday, June 7th, Mayor Bruce Harrell, city officials, and community leaders reflected on the recent surge in gun violence and commemorated a new garden in memory of victims of gun violence at Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park. This event comes in the wake of a shooting at Garfield High School, where 17-year-old Amarr Murphy-Paine was shot and killed while attempting to break up a fight between the shooter and another person.

Donnitta Sinclair started We Got Us Moms to create a space for mothers whose children were killed by what she calls The Disease of Gun Violence after her own son, Lorenzo Anderson Jr. was murdered in June of 2020 and she found no real place for culturally relevant support to help deal with the trauma that she and her family were navigating.
