Converge Queens connected at Takiyah “TDUB” Ward’s soft opening of her brand new Re-Sole retail shop on E Union street as Trae Holiday joined her to speak about the milestone. The shop specializes in custom sneaker painting, dry-cleaning, and more and has become known as one of the top sneaker care shops in Seattle.

Last Monday, community members gathered to remember those we’ve lost during the City of Seattle and the Alliance for Gun Responsibility One Seattle Day of Remembrance event at the First African Methodist Episcopal Church on Capitol Hill in Seattle. It was a somber and reflective day featuring a memorial as well as a look at the work different organizations and individuals are doing throughout the community to end the epidemic of violence.

Besa Gordon was out with the youth during the Seattle Slam Basketball Tournament, a free two day celebration of basketball and fitness in Downtown Seattle. Created by the City of Seattle under Mayor Bruce Harrell’s Downtown Activation Plan, basketball courts were constructed beneath the monorail tracks in the shadow of the Space Needle. It was a unique and memorable occasion which aimed to bring people from across Seattle together.

The Poetry Experience Celebrates 25 Years of Uplifting Black Writers
Seattle’s The Poetry Experience celebrated their 25th anniversary earlier this month, marking a quarter-century of sharing, creating, and community building. Founded by Rajnii Gibson-Eddins, The Poetry Experience consists of workshops and held space for people to come together and explore the power of the written word. The celebration took place at Blue Cone Studios, bringing together poets like Monique Franklin, Ebo, Roberto Ascalon and more.
